Julie Mahieu got her masters degree as a Biomedical Scientist at the University of Antwerp after which she decided to focus on her passion: to make television. She followed Film and Videoclasses at The Royal Academy of Antwerp and masterclasses given by the company she works for, Woestijnvis, John Vorhaus and Charlie Covell. The first years of her career she worked as a reporter for the Belgian Press Agency and the tv-show Man Bites Dog. Meanwhile she developed her first shortfilm, Der Deutschen Morgen. She worked as an actress and reporter for the tv-show The Ideal World. Later on she evolved as a screenwriter, actress and showrunner on her first drama-series The Day, a series which great international succes and the winner of the CITEM-Award at Biografilm Festival, Bologna.
