Bio
Emma Rotsaert is a Belgian actress and musician whose work spans television, theatre, and music. She studied musical theatre at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, where her training combined acting and music. In 2023, Rotsaert was part of the cast of Politie + Dieven, a theatre production written and directed by acclaimed Belgian theatre maker Arne Sierens. The production brought together professional actors, theatre students, and amateur performers.
Rotsaert made her television debut in 2022, appearing as Eva in the Flemish youth series 2DEZIT. In 2025, she took on her first leading television role as Anna Laroux in the six-part black comedy drama How to Kill Your Sister, alongside Marjan De Schutter, who plays her older sister Kat.
Created and written by Pedro Elias and Evelien Broekaert, with Jonas Geirnaert contributing to the screenplay and making his directorial debut, How to Kill Your Sister follows the estranged sisters Anna and Kat on a journey through Spain. The first two episodes premiered internationally on 25 April 2025 at Canneseries, where the series was selected for the festival’s official competition. It was subsequently released on Streamz and broadcast on Play4 and GoPlay, with the series also acquired for German broadcaster ZDFneo.
Music is another important part of Rotsaert’s artistic career. Together with guitarist Geert Vanbever, she forms the Antwerp-based duo Parkaparaplu, founded in 2020. The duo creates Dutch-language new wave and dark wave music. In 2025, Rotsaert and Vanbever joined the Belgian band Arbeid Adelt! as musicians. Their collaboration with Parkaparaplu resulted in the album AA!PKPP, which was released on 17 April 2026.
On 2 August 2026, Rotsaert performed at the Lokerse Feesten alongside Luc Van Acker. Playing guitar, she performed Zanna together with Van Acker’s daughter Trixie. Rotsaert also plays bass guitar with Body Electric, a tribute band dedicated to the music of The Sisters of Mercy.
With her background in acting, theatre, and music, Emma Rotsaert is developing a distinctive multidisciplinary career. Moving naturally between screen, stage, and live performance, she brings together a strong musical sensibility and a growing presence as an actress.
